Shiver me timbers, U13 Lions make final
by Phil Broadway on April 24th, 2012

The long awaited and much delayed last of the League Cup semi finals took place this week at Seafield Park with Crofton Saints facing Hampshire Cup Finalist, Pompey Pirates.

A titanic tussle ensued as the Pirates took a 2-0 lead into the half time break with goals from Ben Siddle and Tom Ward.

Crofton surged back after the break to not only level the scores but to take a 3-2 lead with the goals coming from Liam Mayberry, Kelvin Robinson and Jacob Steel. But as the game entered its last minute, Harry Gregory scored for the Pirates to take the game into extra time.

Neither side could break the deadlock in the first period and as the game moved into the later stages, and with both sides preparing for the dreaded penalty shootout, Issac Gregg stepped up to grab a last minute winner to take Crofton into their second successive League Cup final.

Final score: Crofton Saints U13 Lions 4 - 3 Pompey Pirates (aet)
