Locksheath Lions U11 v Crofton Saints Lions U11 at Brookfield School

On Saturday September 8th Crofton Saints Lions U11 took on Locksheath Lions U11 at Brookfield School, opening their season in the Mid Solent Youth Football Under 11A League. Locksheath kicked off and were soon putting the Crofton goal under a great deal of pressure. However, Crofton defended well and it was Crofton that took the lead when a lofted shot from Josh FOX from just outside the area sailed over the keepers head giving him no chance to save. Locksheath continued to press but Crofton increased their lead when a superb corner from Baran Sener was met by Kai STERNE to head in Crofton second goal.

In the second half Crofton began to dominate the match and it was no surprise when Kai STERNE increased the Crofton lead with a deft touch on a Harry O’Malley through ball to guide it past the helpless Locksheath keeper. Locksheath continued to battle away, but on a difficult pitch legs began to tire and Crofton took advantage of the slight slope in their favour to put them further in front when a fierce Harry O’MALLEY shot from the right beat the keeper to nestle in the far bottom corner of the net. Just to add to the Locksheath woes Adam HATTON scored with another fierce shot in time added on leaving the Crofton Saints Lions comfortable 5-0 winners. Following on from their successes in the U10 Coleman’s League last season this was a good start by the Lions for the coming campaign and, amazingly,  they had had just one hour of pre-season practice prior to this match.

Final Score:   Locksheath Lions U11   0 - 5   Crofton Saints Lions U11
